Full Carbon Racing Seats by Tillett

April 20th, 2009 2 comments

Here at Titan Motorsports we stock over 165 brands, yet we’re constantly getting requests to add new product lines. This week a customer requested a set of lightweight Tillett Racing seats for his track car, so we added the Tillett product line, ordered the seats, and had another happy customer as a result. If you’re a hardcore weight weenie or carbon fiber junkie, check out these seats from Tillett Racing. Weighing in at just over 6lbs not including mounting hardware, these seats are as light as they come. If you’ve got to ask your wife for permission before purchasing parts, or have a 2 hour commute these likely aren’t for you. After sitting in them for a few minutes in the office, they’re not as uncomfortable as they look, however I still doubt wouldn’t be my first choice for a cross country road trip. For a 20 minute spirited session on the road course, they offer a great way to drop some quick weight while holding the driver in firmly. We now carry the complete Tillett Racing product line, inquire with our knowledgeable sales staff for more information.

Novitec Ferrari F430 project continues at Titan

April 2nd, 2009 Comments off

Our Ferrari F430 project continues here at Titan Motorsports with the Novitec technicians progressing at a neck breaking pace. After a mere 2 and a half days of wrenching the supercharger install was complete and fired up with no problems. The sound of a Italian V8 with twin Superchargers is absolutely amazing, we’ll be putting the car on the dyno later this week, with video soon to follow. The engine bay received a host of carbon fiber, from the engine surround trim panels, to hand crafted intercooler pipes. The quality of the parts offered in this kit are second to none and it’s obvious after taking one look at the engine bay why Novitec is one of the leading Ferrari tuenrs in the world. Now that the car is up and running all that is left is to finish re-installing the factory components, install the KW/Novitec suspension and button up a few minor visual updates on the exterior.

The KW / Novitec Hydraulic lift coilovers where installed on the car today, improving the handling of the vehicle while also allowing the driver to raise the front end 44mm from inside the cabin. This was a much needed addition to this vehicle with it’s slammed stance and Novitec front lip leaving little room for clearance under the front bumper.

On the exterior we also replaced the factory bumper lights both front and rear with Novitec smoked LED units, as well as Novitecs black housing tail lights. Rather than just smoke the factory housings, Novitec went the extra mile and created custom black exterior housings, while leaving the reverse light clear for added safety. The car should be wrapped up tomorrow and get it’s change to exercise it’s extra ponies on our Dynojet 248, an event I’m anxious to report the results of, until then enjoy these latest pictures in the gallery below.

Ferrari F430 Novitec Twin Supercharger Install Begins

March 30th, 2009 1 comment

After years of building the worlds most powerful Supras, we find ourselves getting requests from existing customers to venture into new territories with their other vehicles. Most recently our attention has been on the Porsche market, however we received a call to facilitate a Novitec Supercharger kit on a F430 for a customer. We delightfully agreed to have the technicians and parts flown in from Germany as is required for all Novitec installs, and the car you see above is the canvas for this great twin supercharger kit. The car arrived today for what is anticipated at being a 5 day install, I’ll be sure to post plenty of pictures during the install process. The end result should be a car that sounds like pure ecstasy while producing 635hp. Final tweaks and tuning will be completed on our in house Dynojet 248 dynomometer. More updates to come as the install progresses.

Project 996tt hits the dyno and drag strip for initial testing.

After a few busy weeks we finally got a chance to get Project 996tt on the dyno for some initial tuning with our new K24/18G+ kit. After a few busy weeks in the shop working on customers cars and a short weight for a few final missing parts we strapped her on our in-house dynojet in RWD format to begin tuning and get some power to the ground.

We’ve slowly been turning up the boost on the car and dialing in the tune with the help of Tony Chick from EPL’s using their new dealer flash tool. The flashing has been flawless and the process of uploading a new file to the car takes mere minutes. We’ve seen great results so far at lower boost levels and will be turning the boost up a couple ticks in the next week or two to get even more power out of the setup. Using our new fuel system is working great and ad 1.31 bar we where only at 55% duty cycle on the injectors, so we have plenty of room to go for more boost, we’ll likely stop at 1.4-1.5bar on race fuel as this should be a good point for hard usage on the stock engine.

First Pass on low boost (1.15 bar):

60′ 1.729
330 4.889
1/8 7.404
MPH 100.83
1000 9.535
1/4 11.293
MPH 126.79

Second Pass with a bit more boost (1.31 bar)

60′ 1.882
330 4.957
1/8 7.306
MPH 105.99
1000 9.344
1/4 11.051
MPH 130.34

We’ll be doing a bit more tuning this week, hopefully turning the wick up for a bit more power. Chris Green @ USP Motorsports is sending a set of his intercoolers for us to use on the car, that should help keep the intake temperatures down as the boost gets turned up. Now that we’ve gone quicker than 11.5X twice, the track has also requested we install a roll bar. We’re going to take some time to install our GMG cage and new Status seats and try to get rid of some more dead weight in the interior. Progress is always a good thing and with a near 10 second pass on only our 2nd pass, I’m quite happy with where we’re heading.

Project 996tt goes under the knife.

After months of stockpiling parts and testing the stock turbochargers, we had some extra time in the shop this week to begin upgrading Project Porsche. Here are some of the upgrades she’ll be recieving this go around.

K24/18G with Upgraded Wastegates
Standard Issue Intercooler Hoses
Standard Issue Diverter Valves
Tilton Clutch Kit by Titan Motorsports
1,000 CC High Impedence Injectors
Secondary Bosch 044 Fuel Pump
Denso PK20PR-P8 Spark Plugs
Custom tuning by Tony @ EPL

If all goes as planned we should also begin initial testing of our Motec PNP kit as well. We’re still waiting on some body panels and suspension, but our goal is to have everything done and the car at Daytona running next week for Rolex 24 Hours.

Snakes on a … Porsche ?

January 5th, 2009 Comments off

This weekend I had a curious passenger in my yellow Porsche. After having a nice brunch at Dexters in Winter Park with my Fiancé, sister and the bosses, we walked outside to the cars and I caught a glimpse of something on my wheel. After a closer I realized it was a nice 3-4 foot black snake hanging out around my nice Brembo Brakes and HRE P40 wheel. We tried to scare him off with a stick, but he kept moving around the wheel. I figured the best way to get him off would be a spirited drive, so we headed off to Lolicup for the 370z Tour stop and headed inside for some Bobba Tea.

After a while we came back out to the cars, to my surprise the snake was not only still hanging around the car, but he had managed to find his way to the front of the car now and was poking out the radiator grille of the GT2 nose. We tried for a bit to wrangle him out of the car unsuccessfully, so it was off for a spirited drive home, hopefully he would find his way off the car along the way. I got home to find the damn snake still poking his head out the front grill. In an effort to keep my fiancé and dogs from having a nice black snake in the garage or sneaking his way into the house I parked the car out front and tried to get him to come out of his hiding spots, again to no avail. Frustrated I went inside and watched some football for an hour and came back out to have round 2 with Mr. Snake. I caught a glimpse of his tail poking out the hood release area, used my remote to pop the hood as I used a prong style “nuts and bolt retrieval took” to snatch his tail and yank him out of the car and into the yard. The battle was over, the car made its way back into the garage, and my fiancé could now sleep easy with no worries of a snake in the house. For me it was just another fun Sunday adventure driving my Porsche.

Happy Holidays from Titan Motorsports

December 23rd, 2008 Comments off

Saturday marked the date for our annual Titan holiday party. This year we welcomed our close knit family and friends to Buca di Beppo in Maitland for some fine Italian dining, followed by a few sessions of carnage at our local go-kart track Lil500. It was a great time to stop and reflect on the great year we have had, and how much we have to be thankful for.

On of the highlights of the evening was when Sally, one of our book-keepers challenged everyone to write a parody of the night before Christmas to present at the party. Chris rose to the challenge with a great story, however Sally took the cake with some clever inside humor. I’ve posted it below for all to review, I also wanted to take a moment to wish everyone Happy Holidays from myself and the gang here at Titan Motorsports.

“The Night Before Moving”

T’was the night before moving, when all through the town
Everyone was wondering, is this really going down
Car Parts all packed up, lined up nice & neat,
just finding it hard to keep Kris in his seat
The salesmen were nestled all snug in their seats,
with visions of sales that would soon be complete
Jen, Sally & Josie worked in a hurry
just knowing the move would end all their worries
We waited and waited, for this day to come
Now it was upon us, we all want to run
With boxing and packing the part with such care
Know that were moving just gives us a scare
When outside the door there arose such a clatter,
we sprang from our seats to see what was the matter
Away to the door, through open it fast, to see that it was Nero just being an ass.
The sun in the sky was so bright to our eyes
we looked and we saw it was such a surprise
We open the door of A1 and A2 to find that Nero didn’t know what to do
Up on the forklift so orange in color,
everyone knows that he is “your brother”
Should not have been driving the forklift at all
we all got the chuckle when he hit the wall
Then Bottle appeared with duck tape in fist
Yelling and screaming this is NOT on the list.
Bottle and sales staff saying what have we here
A hole in the wall that this tape will adhere
Go David, go Kerwin , go John20to the 3rd, on Geoff, on Sean who is a nerd.
For moving Titan Motorsports
Will be quite a task, For all of the time
We hope this is the last
Admin will have their office private and cozy
Just out of ear shot so you don’t have to hear Josie
I’m sure I’ve left some people out, just ran out of time
The truth of the matter is I have nothing to rhyme.
So as this day ends along with this poem
I want to say Thank You as we leave for our homes.
So let’s all be happy, healthy, wealthy and wise,
let’s get through next year are sale they should rise
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT

Holiday Hours : We will be open the 24th, closed the 25th, and be back in full swing on the 26th.

Tough Brakes for Project 996TT

December 15th, 2008 Comments off

While we were at PRI, our Stoptech Big Brake kit arrived for Project
996TT. The factory brakes on the car felt very tired and needed an overhaul
and some new pads, so we opted for an upgrade. We’ve used Stoptech kits on many
project cars in the past as well as other brake manufactures and they offer a great
overall product. The Kits include 2 piece floating rotors,ST-60 and ST-40 calipers,
stainless brake lines, mounting brackets, and street performance pads. The front rotors
are 380mm, the rears 332mm. They should look great behind the HRE monoblocks, and offer
great braking when we shake down the project soon at the road course.

We also will have the pleasure of testing Tiltons newly released brake fluid, TSR-1 Supreme. This race tested and proven fluid has an extremely high boiling point of 622 degrees Fahrenheit, meets all DOT4 specifications, and maintains very low compressibility at high temperatures. This fluid should be released to the public in February of 2009 at which point we will receive our first shipment as well. Tilton will also be Offering TBR-1 Brake fluid and an all new TCR-1 clutch specific fluid.
