Titan Motorsports proves Supras can still Compete at Texas Invitational

The Texas Invitational is currently one of the nation’s premiere roll racing events for true street cars. A heads up battle takes place on an unprepared runway providing a safe and legal alternative to street/highway racing for those participating. As the name would suggest, Texas Invitational invites premier shops from around the country to Texas in order to see who takes home the King of the Streets and 6-Speed challenge bragging rights. The format is simple, you begin with a rolling start to 60MPH, if both cars are paired equally while crossing a starting beacon a green light is given and the first one to the finish line wins. The finish line is a marked point that features a scoreboard showing the competitors sped through the traps for the audience and fellow competitors to see.

Titan Motorsports brought out Dalton McGuire’s newly completely 1998 Quicksilver Supra for its inaugural trip to TI. The Supra platform has not been competitive at previous events, however Daltons car was built to calm the critics and it quickly did with a 180MPH pass in Friday qualifying placing it in the Top 15 out of 80 competitors. It backed this pass up in Saturday’s last qualifying session yielded a 186MPH run and placing itself as a serious contender in the 6-speed challenge. Dalton’s Supra continued its quick and consistent passes allowing to go rounds in eliminations taking out Vipers, Twin Turbo Lambo’s before losing in the semi-finals to the eventual winner Reza in his Twin Turbo Gallardo.

Even though the car did not win the event, our team was very happy with the semi-final finish in an untested car that proved to not only be fast but also reliable. The majority of people in attendance were impressed with how reliable the platform proved to be given the back to back racing every 10-minutes. This quick turnaround time ensures that minimal service can be conducted between rounds, ensuring that competitors bring a true street car and not a full fledged trailer queen. Dalton’s Titan Motorsports Supra made every round and every call to race and armed with data from a great weekend of racing, the car is ready for the next TI event in October.

Titan Motorsports would also like to thank all the competitors who helped make TI such a successful event with great races : AMS, Blackhorse Turbo Racing, Boost Logic, Calvo Motorsports, Dallas Performance, D3 Performance, Eddie Bello, Heffner Performance, KP Racing, Lethal Performance, Nth Moto, Switzer Performance, T1Race, and Underground Racing.
