Wednesday Sept. 7, 2011 4:30pm – Joe Signorelli piloted the Gas Motorsport 2JZ Celica down the Sydney Dragway quarter mile in a world record breaking 6.38sec at over 223mph. Joe said that he had to pedal the car early and that it shook, explaining the uncharacteristically slow sixty-foot time.
Congratulations to GAS Motorsports on their new world record and for continuing to push the limits in sport compact racing.
The Fast Fours Jamboree in Australia was run for the 19th time this year and has only improved with time. We were fortunate enough to have had a chance to go to Australia for the event this year and it did not disappoint. The event was well coordinated and hosted some of the fastest sport compacts in the world. The event DVD is nearing completion and will be close to 3 hours in length. For more info, stay tuned to Sport Compact Group for more information and release dates. In the meantime, here is a sneak peak of what you can expect. Enjoy.
This past weekend Gas Motorsports set an Australian Import Drag record with a blistering 6.52@216mph pass. This Celica is the same car that we campaigned in the NHRA Import drag racing series in 2004 and 2005 before being sold to Gas Motorsports in Australia. We have had the pleasure of helping Gas Motorsports with parts support post purchase, and offered further support by sending crew members Luzinski and Brett White to Sydney this past week to aid with car setup. We look forward to helping Gas pursue further records in the future, if all goes as planned you may see a Titan Motorsports car competing at a future Jamboree as well.
