Scion tCruise Kick-off, Orlando

September 22nd, 2010 Comments off

Last weekend marked the kickoff of the Scion tCruise. This was a two day event where Scion owners were invited out to test drive the all new 2011 Scion tC on Saturday. Sunday was then open to the public so that everyone could enjoy Scion’s newest offering.

There were a ton of great looking Scions at the event, and no two were alike

From JDM styling

…to old school flare,

this show really had a great variety of Scion machinery.

The food was awesome too.

The event turnout was excellent. There were tons of Scion enthusiasts, as well as quite a few people whipping the 2011’s around the designated test track.

All in all, it was a great event, well executed, and a great time all around. Look for Titan Motorsports to rejoin the tCruise in Ft Lauderdale for the final leg.

NEW Red Line MT-85

September 16th, 2010 Comments off

New from Red Line Oil is MT-85, the latest in a full-synthetic family of products for manual transmissions and transaxles. This 75W85 GL-4 gear oil is designed to fill the viscosity gap between MTL (70W80 GL-4) and MT-90 (75W90 GL-4), making it a perfect fit for many applications, including Nissan and Mitsubishi.

“MT-85 should be a big help for installers, tuners and enthusiasts,” said Cameron Evans, Red Line’s Director of Sales and Marketing. “There are many 75W85 GL-4 gear oil applications on the market, yet very few alternatives to the expensive OE factory fluids. We think this fluid will be a hit with Nissan Z-car fans and Mitsubishi Evolution owners, as well as gear oil customers for a viscosity in between our MTL and MT-90. Installers and quick lubes should will find it extremely useful as well as it fills a big void for them.”

MT-85 provides superior gear and synchronizer protection, while its balanced slipperiness provides an improved coefficient of friction for easier shifting over a range of temperatures. This product is safe for brass synchros, as it lacks the damaging, reactive sulfurs found in most GL-5 oils. MT-85 satisfies the gear oil viscosity requirements of 75W and 85W as well as SAE 30 and 5W30 motor oil viscosities. Recommended for GL-1, GL-3, and GL-4 applications, as well as where most special synchromesh fluids are specified.

New K&N Intake for FJ Cruiser/4Runner

September 15th, 2010 Comments off

The K&N 77-9034KP intake system is designed to replace the factory air filter, air box, and air intake tube with components which are less restrictive, so that the vehicle’s engine performs up to its full potential. Installation of the 77-9034KP is easy, and begins with the removal of the stock intake pieces. In their place go a brightly finished, mandrel-bent aluminum tube, and a large cone shaped air filter that can withstand the abuse of dust and dirt on any trail these vehicles might venture down.

These components have been designed by K&N engineers to be much less restrictive to air flow than their factory counterparts. With K&N’s intake these engines will not waste power trying to pull in the air they need. In addition to being less restrictive, the K&N air filter included in this system (part number RF-1044XD) is protected by a powdercoated steel heat shield, which helps keep intake air temperatures down where they belong. A K&N test on this filter design resulted in showing it has excellent filtration at 99.01% overall efficiency (ISO 5011 test results). According to testing performed on K&N’s dynamometer, the air intake system pushes out an impressive additional 13.55 horsepower and 14.55 lb. ft. torque at 5000 RPM on a 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser. The 77-9034KP is backed by K&N’s Million Mile Limited Warranty.

Rain In Rockingham

September 14th, 2010 Comments off

In an unfortunate turn of events, steady rain moved in on Saturday afternoon and forced the postponement of ADRL Simpson Dragstock VII at Rockingham Dragway.

Team Titan had made some good passes in qualifying, as did many of the other XTF cars. Currently, the Titan Scion sits in 3rd place, after a 3.972 @ 185.69mph pass.

The ADRL’s biggest and most prestigious race will have to be completed in two weeks at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH, which is also the site of the Summit Racing Equipment Ohio Drags IV on Sept. 24-25. For more info, check out ADRL’s website. We’ll see you at the races!

Clear Bra & Nice Tints

September 8th, 2010 Comments off

For most enthusiasts, when parts break, it sucks, but at least you now have the chance to upgrade to something better. On the flip side, if your paint gets chipped, or your interior dashboard fades, you pretty much pay the same money for the same part, with no gains. Titan is helping to protect our vehicles by offering a premium clear bra and tinting service to help block out that Florida heat, and protect your paint and interior.

Check out some of the recent work done on this GTR.

Final product: Looking clean, blocking (pebbles and UV rays) like a champ.

M3 Stoptech Test Day

August 24th, 2010 Comments off

Earlier this week we made the trip out to the beautiful Ocala Gran Prix Race Way (OGP) to link up with Grassroots Magazine to do a little before and after testing of our E92 M3, now equipped with the Stoptech Trophy Sport big brake system.

The Bimmer wasn’t the only thing going around the track that afternoon however. GRM was set to do a new vs. old comparison, as they brought a brand new Honda CR-Z out to see how it would compare to Honda’s original sport compact, the CR-X.

A little cart action while we waited to get on the track…

The battle begins, as the M3 looks on with anticipation.

Here come the CR-Hondas out of the final turn and up the strait.

GRM photographer J.G. Pasterjak gets some up-close action of the dual.

Just about to roll out…

Here the M3 rounds the final corner, while the GRM staff try and push the Stoptech Trophy Sports to the limit.

This concluded our day of brake testing. Be on the lookout in upcoming issues of Grassroots Magazine for both the CR-V vs. CR-X test, as well as our Titan M3 Stoptech comparison.
