ADRL Battle of The Belts

October 30th, 2009 Comments off

Last weekend Titan Motorsports competed in Ennis Texas for the ADRL Battle of the Belts. We were in the #2 spot in points, and we matched up against the winner of the #7 and #8 points holder. Spiro Pappas (#8) won his first battle and was now our opponent Friday night in our first run. Spiro is one of only two cars in the “3 second club” in XTF, and we knew his team would be a handful. Both cars made great runs, but Pappas’4.01 @ 190 mph edged out our 4.02 @ 182 mph. It put an early end to our night which was disappointing for the whole team after working so hard to stay in the #2 points position all season. Spiro went on to win the Battle of the Belts form the #8 spot. Congrats.

The ADRL Battle for the Belts is counted toward the first race of the season, which directly follows. Our 4.02 run from Friday night now counted toward our qualifying for the first race of the season Saturday, so that left us in the #3 qualifying position going into the first round. Here we raced Tony Wilson and ran a solid 4.05 which was enough for the win and lane choice in the next round. In round 2 we faced Dan Millen. We knew we had to put together a strong run, and banged out a 4.01 @ 183.7 mph. It was good enough to advance to the next round, but we did not get the lane choice going in to the semi finals. We would be matched up against Spiro Pappas again in the semi finals and they were making great runs on Saturday as well. Spiro had some mechanical problems in the second round and no one knew if he would make it to the staging lanes. We waited as the Pappas team worked to fix their issues. At the last minute they pulled their car to the lanes and lined up for the race. Whatever they did, they did it right, because Pappas made a career best run of 3.92 @ 193 mph which was unmatched by us or anyone in XTF over the weekend. Chuck Ulsch did manage to beat Spiro Pappas on a hole-shot it the finals though. The elusive 3 second pass that we had hoped for slipped away from us again so we will have to wait to get that early in the 2010 season. The next ADRL race will take place March 12-13th 2010, at Houston Raceway Park, in Baytown Texas. Look for the Titan Team to be out in full force. We’ll see you at the races!

Titan Supercharges 2010 Camaro

October 28th, 2009 Comments off

Want more power for your new Camaro? Magna Charger has a new supercharger that will help with that. The Magna Charger kit claims to make “a real-world 492 rear wheel HP, and 455 Ft. lbs. of rear wheel torque!”

The Camaro Magna Charger Supercharger Systems come complete with all components necessary for installation. Included in the kit is the cast aluminum intake manifold, factory “push-lock connectors” are utilized in the fuel system for installation ease, intercooler core, coolant circulation pump, heat exchanger and all necessary hardware to make a complete installation package. This system does not require any hood modifications. Other components include new high capacity fuel injectors, and fuel rails. The hand held computer programmer communications with the factory ECU for proper calibration of the supercharger system.

Our initial impression was good; all parts included and detailed instructions to accompany. Everything was pretty straight forward, and took less than a day to install, as indicated by Magna Charger.

This system is 100% bolt on, and comes with a standard 3-year limited warranty or an optional 3-year powertrain warranty. Look for a follow up post, where we get some dyno time, and truly test the new found performance.

October 26th, 2009 Comments off

This weekend we had the pleasure of checking out the Festivals of Speed here in Orlando . This annual car show takes place at the Ritz Carlton Orlando and features some of the finest cars in the country, many of which would never be seen if it weren’t for such a great show. This event has become a showcase for the finest luxuries in life, and features displays from some of the most well respected brands in the world including Bugatti, Rolls Royce, Panerai, and Lamborghini. The event encompasses the entire weekend and starts with a kickoff party in a private jetport featuring aircrafts, boats, cars, and many premium brand displaying and sampling their products. We’ve always enjoyed attending as spectators, however this year we were provided the privilege of not just attending, but displaying some of our great automotive creations as well. We brought a wide variety of cars to showcase the diversity of services we are able to provide here at Titan Motorsports.

The cars in our booth included : James Stewart Sr. Completely Custom 66 Chevrolet Chevelle, Green 997 Porsche GT3RS, Titan Motorsports Yellow 996tt, Titan Motorsports Camouflage 996tt race car, Matte Black Renntech CLK Black Series, BMW Z4M Coupe and Dr. Nicks TRD Widebody Supra.

I would like to take a moment to personally thank our great clients who put their cars on display, as well as Leslie for making sure the booth looked great at all times. We’re looking forward to displaying at many future shows both locally and across the state, and can’t wait for the next Festivals of Speed here in Orlando.

Weldon Releases New A600-A Fuel Pump!

October 23rd, 2009 Comments off

Weldon has upgraded the A600-A flow-through continuous-duty fuel pump with -10 inlet and outlet ports and fitted it with revised end caps. Its bigger ports allow the pump to draw more fuel, to deliver more fuel, and to do this at reduced amperage draw. The former 600-A was equipped with a -8 inlet port and -6 outlet port and the end caps were gold. The new A600-A is distinguished by its black-colored end caps.

Product Features:

1) Designed for up to 600 to 700 horsepower (fuel injected) or 800 horsepower (carbureted)
2) At 42PSI (most common setting for EFI cars) the A600-A delivers more than 72GPH with minimal amperage draw (fewer than 5 amps)
3) Each pump is identified by its unique serial number and supplied with its own test chart
4) The pump element (ring, blades, and rotor) are of steel and are precision-lapped, like all moving components within the pump.
5) The 0-ringed housings are anodized 6061 hard-coated billet aluminum.
6) The outer skin of the A600-A is Weldon’s familiar Type 304 stainless steel with 6061 billet aluminum end caps.
7) With carbureted applications, the A600-A should be used in conjunction with a bypassing regulator (like Weldon’s A15 or A30) and a blocking regulator (Weldon A2046).
8) Weldon recommends the installation of two fuel filters: a 100-micron filter before the pump and a 10-micron filter after the pump.

Dead Hookers 11 at Bradenton

October 22nd, 2009 Comments off

This past weekend, October 17th, Bradenton Motorsports Park hosted the “Dead Hookers 11” event. The event is mainly dominated by Domestics, but there were a handful of Imports there as well. One in particular was this Black Supra driven by David Penton.

David has been a customer and a friend of Titan for many years now and always represents TMS to the fullest. David’s Supra was amongst the fastest at the event, posting a 9.56@150mph.

Props to David for not only representing Titan Motorsports at the event, but for representing Imports in general, and holding it down with the domestic crowd.

“Got a ‘Juice Box’ Where My Chip Used to Be…”

October 21st, 2009 Comments off

Ready to take your BMW twin turbo to the next level? How does an additional 80hp and 80tq to the wheels on an otherwise stock car on pump gas sound? How about up to 180hp and 155tq to the wheels on a fully modified car on race gas? Then Burger Motorsports’ new Juice Box 3 is just the product you’ve been waiting for. Bettering upon previous models, Stage 3 improvements include crank position for full 4D engine mapping, air intake temperature for on the fly thermal loading adjustments, direct solenoid control for precise spike free boost control, throttle input for factory like drivability, and fuel pressure control for diagnostic invisibility. In addition, new internal safeguards such as over-boost protection, boost spike protection, and maximum allowable boost solenoid offsets have been incorporated making the JB3 one of the safest tunes available.

Burger has also made installation a snap! Because the JB3 was designed from the ground up specifically for the N54 platform, Burger was able to optimize the unit for reliability and ease of install. The JB3 does not require complicated external power or ground taps which can leave tell tale signs of modification or trigger detection codes, making it the only true plug and play N54 system available. The JB3 box and harness are designed to fit discretely in the ECU compartment with no visible signs of modification. JB3 is offered with two wiring harnesses. Plug and play (PnP), and professional (pin-out). The PNP includes color matched sub-connectors and does not require counting/extracting ECU pins. Installation takes only 15-20 minutes. The pin-out (suggested for more experienced enthusiasts) uses OEM BMW pins in similar manner to JB1 and JB2, and has an install time of 30-45 minutes. Neither version requires the solenoid bypass or any vacuum line changes making removal a snap!

We have installed the Juice Box 3 on Bottle’s 335i, and he loves it. Installation was straight forward as indicated by Burger, and the performance was right on the money. Look for possible track footage  in future posts.
