Titan Motorsports Races ADRL Dragpalooza VI

March 23rd, 2010 Comments off

This weekend Team Titan, with the XTF Scion and XPS Cobalt, made the trip out to Texas to run the Dragpalooza VI at Houston Raceway Park.

After a couple of good qualifying passes on Friday night, the weather rolled in Saturday just as Pro Extreme was tacking to the track to begin qualifying. The wind picked up, temperatures dropped, and the rain began to fall. The race had to be called off.

Later, American Drag Racing League (ADRL) President and CEO Kenny Nowling made the announcement to reschedule the race and the creation of a brand-new, double-header event in response to the rainout of the ADRL’s season-opener.

The ADRL and Team Titan will return July 23-24, to Houston Raceway Park (HRP), where Dragpalooza VI will be completed in its entirety that Friday, with an all-new, yet-to-be-named ADRL national event now scheduled for the same weekend.

Although the race was canceled, we did manage to get some good qualifying passes in. Check them out:

What do you get when you combine a 2JZ-GTE with a custom billet wheel GT4582R Precision turbo and a bunch of Titan Motorsports parts including TMS 280/9.9mm cams, Stage 4 Head, and a Titan M800 PnP Motec ECU? Uh, a butt-load of power? 1292.99 to be exact! After our tuner Darin was able to tame the beast on Q16, the MKIII was able to crank out almost 1300 HP on boost alone, spinning the rollers all the way through 5th gear! Did someone say Texas?

The ADRL season is just around the corner, and as you know, we have been testing and getting the cars ready for the 2010 season. Here is the new ADRL promotional video which features a few cameos from Team Titan throughout. For all of those who wonder why we race in the ADRL, this pretty much sums it up:

Jessica Barton Goes 9.04!

Guest Blog with Jessica Barton

I went out to run my car this weekend at the War of the Imports event we had at my local track. I just recently got a custom suspension set up from Titan Motorsports and it seems to have worked well, shaving off a tenth off my previous fastest pass ever. We still have some dialing in to do, but we will save that for an actual day of testing and not during an event. I wanted to run 8’s so bad today but man with it being over 90 degrees out and the track just getting worse and worse each pass, it just wasn’t going to happen. Hopefully this winter my ET’s will drop lower and lower! Thanks To Darin for getting the car all set up to run, and Titan for getting this suspension made up rather quickly. There will be more info on the suspension soon. I will say the car felt waaayyyy more stable all around on the track, and my first pass of the day I got my best 60’s ever, which was a 1.37. I am still pretty heavy (the car), I weighed it and it was 3400lbs (3393 to be exact). Here’s the video.

Basic breakdown of the slip was
1.39 60′
5.98 1/8
127mph
9.04 1/4
161mph

We have been turning out some really nice upholstery pieces ever since we added our interior division to the Titan line up. We are able to update any interior piece on any car. Whether is be the headliner, seats, arm rest, shift boot, you name it and we can do. Here are a few examples of our most recent work. The perforated leather is a nice update to the Supra interior.

For the 2010 season Titan Motorsports will be racing two cars. Titan has run Scions and Celicas alongside one another in the past, but in 2010 the Team will be changing it up a bit, bringing a 1-2 punch to the ADRL series by racing in two separate classes. Team Titan will race in Extreme Pro Stock as well as Extreme 10.5. Long time team member Gary White will pilot the 10.5″ car while Mark Martino will join the team in Pro Stock.

The Race Team Is Back…

December 2nd, 2009 Comments off

The Titan Renegade is back and so is the race team. The guys have been putting the finishing touches on the Copper Supra in preparation for the upcoming NSCRA event (some of you may have been following our coverage). Shortly after the Supra is finished, they will be back to work on the Scion getting it ready for another action packed season of ADRL racing. Our last two seasons have been very successful but we fell short in the final events. This coming season we look to get back in the saddle and grab hold of what slipped through our finger tips last year.
