The Autosport International show just wrapped up in Birmingham, UK and Titan Motorsports once again had a display in the engineering hall of the convention. The engineering hall is open the first 2 days of the show and is reserved for trade only, allowing a great opportunity for us to meet face to face with our distributors in the UK. The show spans a total of 4 days and unlike its US counterparts allows the public to attend and see the latest in motorsports gear. With many F1 teams calling the United Kingdom home, this is the show where you can expect to see the absolute latest and greatest technologies before they get trickled down into the tuner market. The level of quality of the parts required in these technological marvels truly must be seen in person to appreciate. From entire carbon fiber air boxes for the Bugatti Veyron, to complete billet transmissions for V8 Supercars, there’s something for everyone at Autosport.

Another highlight of the show was the unveiling of the latest SATS Motorsports drift Supra for the 2014 BDC season. We’ve had the pleasure of being a technical partner for the team for many years now and helped supply quite a few parts for the latest build. The team started with a fresh chassis and ground up build for this season and we look forward to seeing great results from the team with Mark Luney behind the wheel. We enjoyed the great hospitality we experience across the pond from our customers and friends and look forward to attending the show again next year and further building these great partnerships.

We’ve just returned from yet another trip across the pond for the annual Autosport trade show in the UK. Whenever we travel to a race or trade event we try our best to take in the local culture and check out shops and manufactures in the region. This particular trip had us traveling by train from London to Birmingham, allowing us to stop in Northampton and visit the headquarter of one of the UK’s most well known brands Cosworth. As a Cosworth distributor here in the states we were able to arrange a private tour of their facilities, unfortunately much of it was off limits to our phones and camera.

The buildings encompassing Cosworths compound date back over 60 years and houses every piece of equipment a gear head could want. This allows them to design, test, machine, and produce nearly any engine or performance part without leaving their compound. We’ve visited many engine shops and parts manufactures in the past and were blown away by some of the technology that Cosworth had at its finger tips. We shouldn’t have been surprised knowing they’ve produced Indy car and F1 engines in the past, but seeing such capabilities in person is a completely different reality. A typical engine shop having an engine dyno is expected, but when you see 3 shop sized dyno test cells designed for F1 engine testing and a number of “standard” engine dyno cells it really puts into perspective the technology Cosworth possesses. All this technology is not just for show as the same machines used to produce F1 engines produce their street geared aftermarket parts. As we toured their engine assembly room we even witnessed a customers Subaru engine being assembled in the same space as a Formula1 engine undergoing routine service.

The Cosworth Museum was open to photography and displays competition engines from nearly all forms of motorsports from rally to Formula 1. The pictures below shows the amazing engines produced by Cosworth that illustrate the technology that goes into Cosworths history of producing competitive race engines for their customers. Titan Motorsports displayed at the Autosport International Show January 10-13 at the NEC Center in Birmingham England. Our booth was joined by our technology and distribution partners Manley Performance and Fidanza to display our latest products and distribution news to our European customers. We exhibited in the Engineering Hall this year which spans the first 2 days of the show and is geared towards those in the automotive engineering and trade business. In addition to the Engineering Hall there is a main hall geared towards the public that runs the entire 4 days with automotive and parts displays that would satisfy most any gear heads appetites. In this hall we were treated to many great cars not found in the states such as the latest Noble, Ginetta, Mono, and plenty of race cars including this years F1 lineup. The Autosport show is one of the few shows where you can see in depth the engineering and manufacturing side of what goes into building the most extreme vehicles in motorsports, and venture into the next hall and see the completed vehicles on display.

In the booth next to ours, Schroth had Bugatti Veyron engine on display along which had parts from the OEM development side.

After marveling at the Veyron engine and the engineering behind it, seeing the factory intake manifold in the Capricorn Group’s booth completely blew me away.

The 991 Porsche cup car was just released in images for the general public to see, but at Autosport you can see in depth the parts that make it the competitive machine it it, like these massive brakes from PFC.

Once you got past all of the high tech parts on display there were plenty of cars new and old to marvel at, like a handful of F1 cars from decades past.

SATS Motorsports who we’ve sponsored for the past few years also unvield their Drift Supras new livery, big things are in the works for 2013 and we look forward to expanding on this partnership and helping the team with their latest goals.

Mclaren F1 cars are rare cars to begin with,seeing a F1 GTR is a once in a lifetime occurance, this one was owned by Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason.

If the newer Mclaren cars are more your thing, the latest Mclaren MP4-12C GT3 was a few steps away.

Although still not massively popular in the US like Nascar, people in Europe go crazy over F1 and Autosport caters to this by offering a rare display of the previous years F1 cars displayed for racing fans to see in the flesh. I personally enjoyed being able to compare the minute differences of each car only possibly by starting at them all a few feet from each other.

After the show was over, we packed up our booth and left Birmingham to continue our trip by spending a few days recouperating in London. From there it was a quick flight to Germany to spend a few days braving the cold and exploring a pair of automotive enthusiasts automotive meccas in Stuttgart, expect additional posts on that in the coming days.

Last week our International Wholesale Manager Eric Kerwin and I made the journey over the pond and through the fog to dreary Birmingham England for Autosport 2009. The show itself was great, consisting of two days of pure industry showcase, as well as two days designated for retail customers and general motorsports enthusiasts. It was a great show for us as we were able to talk with motorsports enthusiasts from around the world. While we were there we also took time to do a little site seeing as well as sample the local food. We will have more on that later but in the mean time we snapped a few shots of some of the cars on display. Enjoy.
