December 27th, 2011 Comments off

Titan Motorsports releases its stroker kit for the VR38DETT engine found in the 2007+ Nissan GTR. The kit features a 94.4mm stroke crankshaft which increases the factory 3.8L engine to 4.1L with standard bore pistons, up to 4.3L with overbore pistons. The billet crank features scalloping as well as knife edged counterweights to reduce weight and increase crankshaft aerodynamics. The crank also features a 2.200” rod bearing which allows for a larger variety of bearing material availability over the factory Nissan bearings. The kit includes Carillo rods and CP pistons produced to Titan Motorsports specifications, designed for an increase in RPM range and horsepower. The pistons are available in standard bore, over bore, or custom bore to customer specifications. Stoptech Big Brake Kits featuring Forged Calipers

December 15th, 2011 Comments off

StopTech’s complete line of high performance and racing calipers is forged to help produce the strongest calipers around, ensuring consistent and predictable brake caliper performance, stop after stop. In testing, StopTech’s patented forged calipers have exhibited the least amount of flex of any aftermarket or OE caliper.

With forging, an aluminum billet slug is heated and shaped using compressive forces. This produces a better grain structure that improves a material’s resistance to fatigue.

In contrast, the casting process involves pouring liquid into a mold, which can produce a finished product with regional density irregularities. That is why castings are more prone to cracking.

That is why StopTech calipers are all forged, and why StopTech calipers are the best calipers on the market. We’ll take a quick tour of how Stoptech produces the calipers featured in their popular big brake kits.

In this picture you can see the billet caliper slug as Stoptech receives it from their foundry in comparison to same part after finish machining. The pictures below illustrate the steps that take the slug to this final product. All Stoptech calipers start with the same forged slug with CNC finish work tailoring it to a specific application.

The raw forgings are placed in custom made jigs for final machine work on one of the many CNC machines that fill Stoptech’s California location. Each kit features various piston sizing to help maintain proper brake balance while using the OEM master cylinders.

Stoptech’s trophy sport line spends extra time in the CNC machine where additional finish work and machining leads to a 15% weight savings over their standard calipers.

Fresh out of the CNC, these calipers are checked and put in que for their final finish.

After being removed from the CNC, each caliper is sent to the dipping tank where they are anodized in a natural grey finish before the logo is painted in Stoptech’s trademark black and red.

The freshly coated calipers are inspected, assembled, and pressure checked on a test bench before being packaged and shipped to an authorized Stoptech distributor. These Trophy Race Kits are used on many of the top competitors in the SCCA Pro Pirelli World Challenge Championship as well as in Grand-Am and other race series. In addition to these premier racing series, you can also find these brakes on the vast majority of project and employee owned vehicles here at Titan Motorsports.

The 24th annual Performance Racing Industry show took place this past weekend, and Titan Motorsports was proud to be a displaying vendor amongst thousands of attendees in our hometown of Orlando, Florida. This industry only show takes place at the Orlando convention center and is attended by over 40,000 buyers from around the world. The show features suppliers and parts for all forms of motorsports from Nascar to monster truck racing to offshore marine. There is also a section of the show devoted entirely to fabrication and machine shops showing off the latest in CNCs and machinery to help make going fast easier. This was our first year displaying at the show, and we received a warm response from attendees and vendors attending the show. In addition to our Titan Gallardo Twin Turbo displayed in our booth, we also had our Camouflage Porsche 996tt, Scion TC Outlaw drag car, and George Bonafede’s Nissan GTR on displayed throughout the convention.

We would like to thank Bosch, Brembo, Carbonetic, Cometic, Eagle, Fidanza, Haltech, Hypertune, Injector Dynamics, and Supertech, our great partners whose support helped make our booth possible.

COBB Tuning releases Big SF Intake for Nissan GT-R

November 10th, 2011 Comments off

COBB Tuning is proud to announce the release of our latest addition to our Nissan GT-R performance parts: The COBB Tuning Big SF Intake. The Big SF Intake is a 3-inch ID intake designed to open the door to high-power builds in the future, yet work effortlessly with an otherwise stock GT-R. The Big SF Intake kit future-proofs your intake, so you won’t need to upgrade this component later if you decide to go down the path of major modifications. Furthermore, it installs as easily as our regular SF Intake, without any cutting or trimming of bodywork.

In stock form, the R35 ECU measures airflow using a Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor located in the stock intake system. As modifications add up and increase power, the airflow can increase to the point that it exceeds the MAF sensor’s maximum capacity, preventing the ECU from accurately measuring air mass, and thus unable to deliver the appropriate amount of fuel. The Big SF Intake increases the inner diameter of the intake tubing, increasing the cross section of the intake and allowing the MAF sensor to read lower for the same amount of ingested air. This gives the sensor the necessary headroom to read accurately for airflow higher than the stock system was designed for. COBB Tuning has used the Big SF Intake to support builds of over 600HP and 600TQ at the wheels, gains of 40% over a stock GT-R!

Changing the calibration of the MAF sensor necessitates tuning changes to recalibrate the ECU. COBB Tuning has you covered here as well with a set of free AccessPORT Big SF Intake Off-The-Shelf maps for all supported GT-R Stage1 and Stage2 vehicles. Big SF Intake maps are available for download from the Nissan GT-R AccessPORT Map Database.

The Big SF Intake shares all of the same quality features of its popular smaller brother. Constructed of 3-inch diameter aluminum tubing with TIG welded bracketry and MAF sensor mount and finished with a tough black crinkle coating for an OEM quality appearance. High-Flow K&N cone filter elements fit through the factory openings in the bumper. Your choice of high-quality COBB Blue or Steath Black silicone couplers are used to join the intake to the factory system.

If you looking to upgrade your GT-R’s intake and are considering modifying your GT-R for more power down the road, the COBB Tuning Big SF Intake will meet your immediate intake-upgrade needs with matching AccessPORT calibrations, and will meet airflow demands as you continue to modify your car in your quest for more horsepower. It doesn’t get any better than this!

Titan Motorsports Coverage: Simply Clean 3 at Route 46

November 8th, 2011 Comments off

This weekend we ventured out to Route46 for the third installment of the annual Simply Clean show. We typically don’t modify vehicles for appearance only or stance, however we can appreciate other passion for their vehicles regardless of the vehicles use. The turnout for this show was one of the largest I can remember in recent memory, and the quality of vehicles present was very high. The parking within the complex quickly filled up and the surrounding overflow lots were full of cars as far as the eye could see. We had a great time displaying our Speed Yellow 996tt, Track Day E92 BMW M3, and RHD R33 Skyline and are already looking forward to next years event.

Sema Prank 2011 : Balloon Boy

November 8th, 2011 Comments off

The first week in November marks the start of the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas, and a weekend without the bosses here at Titan. We enjoy a casual office environment, and a week with no bosses typically leads to some fun pranks, with this year’s target would be Bottles office. Bottle typically refers to his office as “one big 7-eleven” so we decided to fulfill his dream and add the appropriate signage, and a few hundred balloons for good measure. Our original plan was to fill the office from floor to the ceiling with balloons, however after filling our first run of 500 balloons and tiring our fingers in the process, we decided half full would suffice. Bottle was quite surprised when he arrived at the office, he expected a prank, but not one this well thought out! He attempted to work on Monday in his newly remodeled office, however after battling the balloons for a few hours; an exacto knife led them to their demise.
