Why Reprogram the Original ECU using ECUTEK?

Reprogramming the original ECU is by far the cleanest, safest and quickest way of correctly compensating for engine, induction and exhaust modifications. The maps in the standard ECU may be adjusted to cater for virtually any modifications that are likely to be made to a car. Civilized features such as cold start and stable idle are all retained, whilst performance mapping begins from the (already extremely good) standard manufacturer map rather than from a blank sheet of paper.

Risky boost clamps, bleed valves, boost controllers and piggy back modules may all be discarded and replaced by a pure and accurate mapping adjustment.
The safety features of the ECU are retained, such as sensor checks, fuel cut, boost cut, rev limit, speed limit and ‘limp home’ mode, though they may be altered to suit the car and its modifications. E.g. if the ECU detects a problem (engine over-temperature or failed sensor), it is still in full control of boost pressure and is able to take evasive action to preserve the engine. This is in stark contrast to external controllers and piggy back modules that either take over control of engine functions, or fool the ECU about the state of its sensors.

Supra featuring TMS built auto trans runs 189mph Standing Mile pass in Finland

July 10th, 2014 Comments off

This past weekend a good customer of Titan Motorsports Jukka took his Titan upgraded Auto trans equipped Supra the the 2014 Speed party in Finland. This years Speedparty.com event was held at Finland South Carelia, a runway event similar to those gaining popularity here in the states. Jukka managed a best run of 189.4 mph over the distance of 1 mile (304.8 km/h@1609 m) utilizing at TMS built transmission and TMS torque converter with 3500 stall. This particular auto trans has been installed and running since 2011 making several 800whp pulls on the dyno, countless hours of street driving and occasional full mile passes. This year he wasn’t able to get the most out of the car due to a ignition malfunction but we are sure he will be out soon and ready to better his already stellar time.

Congrats Jukka on the pass!

Titan Motorsports 2JZ Billet Main Caps

June 25th, 2014 Comments off

It’s no secret, we build a lot of 2JZ engines, typically we get quite a few email inquiries for advice that typically start like this

“Do I really need this part for my build”
“So and So said that they don’t have this part and it’s a waste of money”
“I don’t want to do extra machine work to my engine but want to make 1,500hp”

Every now and then the conversion starts with a nice picture like the one below that is worth well more than 1,000 words.

This particular engine was making north of 900hp with a factory shortblock setup, as you can see the factory mains decided they weren’t up to the task and the customers re-build/upgrade will now include a set of our Titan Billet Main caps.

The Titan Motorsports billet main caps are precision machined from high tensile billet steel. We developed these main caps out of necessity for our 2JZ race program and soon found them to be applicable in most street engines. With the increased boost levels seen in single and larger twin turbo setups, the factory crank pushes down on the caps often leading to stress fractures and cracks. The factory main caps were not designed for the forces required when doubling and tripling the factory horsepower and torque levels. These caps are included in our short block and race engine packages and now available separately for those building their own engines.

Titan Motorsports main caps will work with both the 2JZ-GTE engine found in the Supra turbo, as well as the 2JZ-GE engine found in non-turbocharged models. Please keep in mind that a line bore of the mains will need to be completed upon installation of these upgraded main caps. We recommend using brand new ARP Main studs and fresh bearings when installing the Titan Motorsports main caps.

Titan Motorsports proves Supras can still Compete at Texas Invitational

May 8th, 2014 Comments off

The Texas Invitational is currently one of the nation’s premiere roll racing events for true street cars. A heads up battle takes place on an unprepared runway providing a safe and legal alternative to street/highway racing for those participating. As the name would suggest, Texas Invitational invites premier shops from around the country to Texas in order to see who takes home the King of the Streets and 6-Speed challenge bragging rights. The format is simple, you begin with a rolling start to 60MPH, if both cars are paired equally while crossing a starting beacon a green light is given and the first one to the finish line wins. The finish line is a marked point that features a scoreboard showing the competitors sped through the traps for the audience and fellow competitors to see.

Titan Motorsports brought out Dalton McGuire’s newly completely 1998 Quicksilver Supra for its inaugural trip to TI. The Supra platform has not been competitive at previous events, however Daltons car was built to calm the critics and it quickly did with a 180MPH pass in Friday qualifying placing it in the Top 15 out of 80 competitors. It backed this pass up in Saturday’s last qualifying session yielded a 186MPH run and placing itself as a serious contender in the 6-speed challenge. Dalton’s Supra continued its quick and consistent passes allowing to go rounds in eliminations taking out Vipers, Twin Turbo Lambo’s before losing in the semi-finals to the eventual winner Reza in his Twin Turbo Gallardo.

Even though the car did not win the event, our team was very happy with the semi-final finish in an untested car that proved to not only be fast but also reliable. The majority of people in attendance were impressed with how reliable the platform proved to be given the back to back racing every 10-minutes. This quick turnaround time ensures that minimal service can be conducted between rounds, ensuring that competitors bring a true street car and not a full fledged trailer queen. Dalton’s Titan Motorsports Supra made every round and every call to race and armed with data from a great weekend of racing, the car is ready for the next TI event in October.

Titan Motorsports would also like to thank all the competitors who helped make TI such a successful event with great races : AMS, Blackhorse Turbo Racing, Boost Logic, Calvo Motorsports, Dallas Performance, D3 Performance, Eddie Bello, Heffner Performance, KP Racing, Lethal Performance, Nth Moto, Switzer Performance, T1Race, and Underground Racing.
