Eurotrip Part 1: Titan Motorsports at the Autosport International Show in UK

January 24th, 2013 Comments off

Titan Motorsports displayed at the Autosport International Show January 10-13 at the NEC Center in Birmingham England. Our booth was joined by our technology and distribution partners Manley Performance and Fidanza to display our latest products and distribution news to our European customers. We exhibited in the Engineering Hall this year which spans the first 2 days of the show and is geared towards those in the automotive engineering and trade business. In addition to the Engineering Hall there is a main hall geared towards the public that runs the entire 4 days with automotive and parts displays that would satisfy most any gear heads appetites. In this hall we were treated to many great cars not found in the states such as the latest Noble, Ginetta, Mono, and plenty of race cars including this years F1 lineup. The Autosport show is one of the few shows where you can see in depth the engineering and manufacturing side of what goes into building the most extreme vehicles in motorsports, and venture into the next hall and see the completed vehicles on display.

In the booth next to ours, Schroth had Bugatti Veyron engine on display along which had parts from the OEM development side.

After marveling at the Veyron engine and the engineering behind it, seeing the factory intake manifold in the Capricorn Group’s booth completely blew me away.

Looking for a Sequential transmision for your endurance racer made completely from billet? Albins has you covered.

The 991 Porsche cup car was just released in images for the general public to see, but at Autosport you can see in depth the parts that make it the competitive machine it it, like these massive brakes from PFC.

Once you got past all of the high tech parts on display there were plenty of cars new and old to marvel at, like a handful of F1 cars from decades past.

SATS Motorsports who we’ve sponsored for the past few years also unvield their Drift Supras new livery, big things are in the works for 2013 and we look forward to expanding on this partnership and helping the team with their latest goals.

Mclaren F1 cars are rare cars to begin with, seeing a F1 GTR is a once in a lifetime occurance, this one was owned by Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason.

If the newer Mclaren cars are more your thing, the latest Mclaren MP4-12C GT3 was a few steps away.

Although still not massively popular in the US like Nascar, people in Europe go crazy over F1 and Autosport caters to this by offering a rare display of the previous years F1 cars displayed for racing fans to see in the flesh. I personally enjoyed being able to compare the minute differences of each car only possibly by starting at them all a few feet from each other.

After the show was over, we packed up our booth and left Birmingham to continue our trip by spending a few days recouperating in London. From there it was a quick flight to Germany to spend a few days braving the cold and exploring a pair of automotive enthusiasts automotive meccas in Stuttgart, expect additional posts on that in the coming days.

Titan Motorsports attends FL Citrus PCA Drivers Education at Roebling Road

November 20th, 2012 Comments off

A few weekends back we took our Porsche GT3 to Roebling Road in Savannah for another great DE event with the Florida Citrus Region of the Porsche Club of America. Most of our fans know us from our days drag racing, but truth be told in our off time we enjoy spending time on various road courses around the Southeast any chance we can get. There are many great organizations such as Porsche Club of America, PBOC, Chin and SCCA who offer affordable opportunities to get started on driving on the track. Contrary to popular belief track driving initially isn’t as expensive as most make it out to be, as a first timer or introductory track driver you can get on track with a well maintained vehicle with nothing more than some high temperature brake fluid and standard performance tires. Most organizations will offer or provide experience instructors to help escalate your learning curve and keep you save on track for your first track experience and the many more that are likely to follow once you get hooked. We provide the necessary pre-track inspections here at Titan Motorsports and can provide any pre-track work needed to make sure you weekend is a success.

Titan Motorsports releases Lamborghini Gallardo and LP560 LP570 Cylinder Sleeve Kit

October 17th, 2012 Comments off

The Lamborghini Gallardo platform has become a hot bed for tuners looking to increase the performance of the factory V10 engines using forced induction. With this increased power comes increased cylinder pressure and the factory cylinder liners typically become the weak point. Titan Motorsports has partnered with industry leaders to develope high strength iron sleeves to eliminate this weak link in the engine and allow you to get the full potential from your upgrades.

Titan Motorsports custom sleeves are designed to repair or upgrade the Lamborghini Gallardo V10 Engine block. Produced from ASTM-A536 material to the highest standards for a proper interference fitment, these sleeves provide a full rigid structure once installed while still allowing for servicing of individual cylinders when required.

Available for both Gallardo 5.0L engines and LP560/570 5.2L engines.

One Wild Prowler show car gets a bit Wilder at Titan Motorsports

July 26th, 2012 Comments off

While it may not be the fastest production car out there, the Plymouth Prowler became a fan favorite after it’s release in 1997 for it’s hot rod looks and sleek design. Ralph McLaughlin had previously worked with us on his Aston Martin Vantage, and having seen pictures of the one-off 2JZ Prowler we had built, wanted to see what we could do with his Prowler. The car is primarily used for car shows and arrived in beautiful condition with plenty of previously installed modifications. Having already won many shows in its current form, Ralph wanted us to take some inspiration from the car and further upgrade it to take things to the next level for future events.

Brembo does not offer a BBK Kit for the Prowler, however we created a one off version on the 2JZ Prowler using custom CNC Brackets and hats. Having seen how good the massive brake kit looked on that car, Ralph wanted the same kit for his Prowler to make it stand out at the many car shows he attends with the car. We went back to our records and worked with Brembo to complete a full update package and they were installed on the car without a hitch. To further give the brakes a custom touch we applied a fresh coat of jet black paint to match the exterior with the Prowler logo painted on in silver.

After completing the brake upgrade the factory wheels would no longer clear the massive Brembo calipers. Wanting to maintain the wild stance of the Prowler, we installed a set of custom painted Black and Chrome Asanti AF162’s in a massive 19″ front and 22″ rear. While the brakes were being painted we also addressed a tear in the factory roof by installing a new custom soft top.

The car arrived with plenty of chrome and the wild color changing flame job on the front, so no additional changes were needed on this front. Karim at Superior Detailing made sure the car had a fresh coat of wax and spotless exterior prior to its transport back to Ralph’s residence for him to enjoy. Karim has detailed many of our projects and equally as many exotics, and was amazed at the depth and quality of the paint job on the car, whoever laid the brilliant flames outdid themselves.

Titan Motorsports releases 3.5L 2JZ Stroker Kit

June 7th, 2012 Comments off

Taking the old hot rod statement “There’s no Replacement for Displacement” to heart, we went to work and developed a new 3.5L stroker kit for the 2JZ.  Increasing the factory displacement by .5L to increase low end torque and horse power and reduce turbo lag.  Using one of our Titan Motorsports True Billet Crankshaft designed for our 3.5L, we increased the stroke by 10mm to 96mm, increasing the displacement to 3.5L.  The Titan Motorsports 3.5L Billet Crankshaft also features a 1.88″ rod bearing which allows a wider range of bearing options as well as a larger variety of bearing materiel availability over factory sized Toyota bearings. The Billet Crankshaft is complimented by Custom Titan Motorsports / CP Pistons in 87mm bore, and Custom Titan Motorsports / Carrillo H-Bream connecting Rods with Upgraded Rod Bolts both built to our specifications.  The recommended maximum RPM limit for this kit is 9,000 RPM when combined with proper camshaft selection and a lightweight valve train.

Global Time Attack and FormulaD Invasion at Palm Beach International Raceway

June 5th, 2012 Comments off

This weekend Palm Beach International Raceway was a busy place with FormulaD, Slammed Society, and Global Time Attack all hosting events at the track. We were on hand supporting our good friend Jon Miller with his brand new Scion FRS, the first to enter Time Attack competition here in the states. Just prior to the event taking place we installed a set of Hawk Blue Pads and performed a brake flush on the car, beyond that the car remained primarily stock and was entered into the Street RWD Class. The car handled great and logged as many laps as any other car out there, however it was outgunned on the long straights by cars with 2-3 times the horsepower output of the bone stock boxer power plant and just missed the podium finishing 4th.

The car show was a testament to the dedicated fans of FormulaD who braved the scatted thunderstorms that peppered the track throughout the day. Our good friends at HRE brought out an amazing Ferrari F458, Audi R8 V10 and their latest wheel releases and finishes.

FormulaD put on an amazing event, the course change from last year made for plenty of action and great tandem battles. We where rooting for our local friend Chelsea Denofa in his M3, who eventually lost to event winner Daigo Saito after colliding on an insane entry. I was quite impressed with the SC430 of Saito (and the smoke screens he was leaving his chasers in),powered by a 3.4L 2JZ which uses nitrous to help keep the turbo spooling quickly during transition.

The event was a great success and the changes PBIR made to the track allowed for an increased number of grandstands that were packed most of the weekend. I’m a huge fan of drifting and with each successful event I attend I begin to wonder when one day those internet rumors of us fielding a team will become a reality, only time will tell.

Titan Motorsports Race 5-Row Intercooler for MKIV Supra

May 30th, 2012 Comments off

One of the keys to making big horsepower with any turbocharged engine is keeping the inlet air temperatures down, to combat this problem in the MKIV Supra we have developed our new Titan Motorsports 5-row Race Intercooler.  The foundation for our intercoolers is a proven Garrett bar and plate core that measures a staggering 28×12.5″.  CAD designed end tanks which are laser cut for consistency are TIG welded to the massive core.  This intercooler uses a 3.0″ Inlet and 4.0″ Outlet which is bead rolled to prevent the charge pipes from blowing off at higher boost levels.  The Titan intercooler is designed to be installed without the need to modify the factory bumper, and allows the factory bumper support to remain intact.  This intercooler is the same unit used on our record setting Toyota Supra, and is proven to work at horsepower levels in excess of 1,800hp.  All necessary hardware and instructions are included with the core, piping is not included.
